  • Did you know there are penalties for not enrolling in Medicare on time?

    For example, those who don’t buy Part A when they are first eligible may pay a late penalty of up to 10% unless they enroll during a special enrollment period. (They will have to pay the higher premium for twice the number of years they could have had Part A but did not sign up.)

    For individuals who do not enroll in Part B when first eligible, the Part B premium is increased by 10% for each full 12-month period the beneficiary could have had Part B but did not enroll.

    For Part D, the penalty is 1% of the national average beneficiary premium for each month the beneficiary did not have Part D or creditable coverage.
